Soelcha Wang at Samtse Moenlam Chenmo: A Day of Spiritual Renewal
The five-day Moenlam Chenmo held from 25th to 29th October in Samtse, brought the community together in an atmosphere of deep devotion, mindfulness, and spiritual reflection. On the fifth day of the festival, a special Soelcha Wang was bestowed upon devotees by the esteemed Dorji Lopen at the Samtse High School football ground, where around 2,000 followers gathered to receive blessings and spiritual guidance.
Among the attendees were students, faculty, and staff of the Samtse College of Education, who joined the wider Samtse community in receiving Dorji Lopen’s blessings. Their presence reflected the college’s deep connection with local cultural and spiritual traditions, and many participants expressed gratitude for the rare opportunity to attend such a significant event within their own community.
The session began at 9:00 AM, with Dorji Lopen addressing the gathering on the significance of the Soelcha Wang. He explained that the blessing purifies the mind and body, helping practitioners progress on their path toward enlightenment. Emphasising the impermanence of life, a central tenet of Buddhism, he reminded devotees that all phenomena are transient. “Our time in this world is fleeting,” he said, “and it is through blessings like these that we can align ourselves with the Dharma and find solace amidst the chaos of daily life.”
Dorji Lopen further explained that the Soelcha Wang serves as a means to reduce negative karma and purify one’s thoughts and actions. He highlighted that such blessings not only bring immediate spiritual benefit but also foster a longer and more meaningful life. “In moments of adversity,” he shared, “the blessings act as a true virtue, guiding us back to the right path and helping us cultivate positive habits.”
The ceremony concluded around 12:30 PM, leaving devotees with a renewed sense of peace, purpose, and spiritual clarity. Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive Dorji Lopen’s teachings and vowed to carry the essence of the blessing into their daily lives.
