A Hundred Ideas in Motion: RUB Annual Faculty Meet 2026 Underway
Faculty members from the Samtse College of Education (SCE) are participating in the RUB Annual Faculty Meet 2026 – A Hundred Ideas Summit, which began on 2 February and enters its second day today at the College of Science and Technology (CST), Rinchending, Phuentsholing.
The inaugural Annual Faculty Meet, organised as a flagship initiative of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), brings together faculty from all eleven colleges under the theme “Inspiring Development, Excellence and Academic Success.” The Summit aims to generate one hundred concrete and actionable ideas to strengthen teaching, research, innovation, and academic leadership across the University.
In his keynote address, “RUB at the Frontier: Leadership, Excellence, and Ideas for a New Era,” the Vice Chancellor Dasho Chewang Rinzin emphasised the urgency of purposeful action, reminding faculty that “standing still is not an option; hesitation carries a cost,” and that the University stands “at a frontier—between what we have been and what we must become.”
Across the three days, the Summit features highly interactive and collaborative activities such as a Fireside Chat, Education Relay Race, and World Café sessions designed to encourage cross-pollination of ideas. These are complemented by Open Mic Night and Elevator Pitch rounds, where faculty members present and refine proposals in a dynamic, collegial environment.
A central component of the Summit is the structured idea-pitching process, where all groups present their ideas in five-minute pitches, with the four best ideas nominated for the grand finale. The programme culminates in a Grand Finale plenary session, during which the top 16 ideas are presented, and the Top-5 ideas are selected through seven-minute pitches for further development and institutional consideration.
Highlighting the value of the platform, Dr. Kinley Seden, DRIL of SCE, notes that the Annual Faculty Meet provides a timely space for meaningful academic engagement. “The Ideas Summit offers an excellent platform for idea generation, collaboration, and networking across colleges,” she says. “The exchange of ideas and experiences among faculty is particularly valuable, and many of these ideas will be useful in strengthening research, innovation, and academic practice across the University.”
Faculty from the Samtse College of Education are actively engaging in the Summit sessions, contributing insights grounded in teacher education, inclusive pedagogy, curriculum innovation, and community-engaged research. Their participation reflects SCE’s commitment to collaborative leadership and to advancing RUB’s shared vision for excellence and relevance.
As the RUB Annual Faculty Meet 2026 continues, the Ideas Summit is shaping a collective pathway for leadership, excellence, and innovation, reinforcing the Royal University of Bhutan’s role at the forefront of national transformation.
