SCE Faculty Launch Three-Day Differentiated Instruction Training
A faculty training on Differentiated Instruction (DI), which began on 5 February 2026, enters its second day today for all faculty members of Samtse College of Education (SCE) in Phuentsholing. The three-day programme is designed to strengthen faculty understanding and application of differentiated instruction practices across SCE programmes.
Organised by a dedicated team of five faculty members, the training focuses on integrating DI in academic modules for the upcoming Spring Semester more intentionally and rigorously. While elements of DI are already practised across programmes, the sessions emphasise systematic planning and evidence-informed implementation to better address learner diversity.
The programme covers key areas including learner diversity and differences, diagnostic assessment, differentiation of content, process, product, and learning environment, as well as strategies for overcoming contextual challenges in classroom implementation. Sessions are facilitated by faculty members Kuenzang Gyeltshen, Sonam Zangmo, Sonam Wangmo, Isabelle Nizet, Ugyen Dorji, and Chenga Dorji, with collaborative reflection and action planning embedded throughout.
Speaking about the workshop, Project Coordinator DAA Kuenzang Gyeltshen noted, “SCE is committed to enhancing teaching and learning, and this workshop, made possible through UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Korea, directly supports our efforts to address learning gaps and strengthen quality education for all students.”
He added, “Training our faculty is a key part of our strategy. By strengthening teachers’ skills at SCE, we ensure that the benefits reach the students in classrooms across the region.”
Jigme Wangdi, a SCE faculty participant, shared, “It’s already helpful to see how small changes in planning can make a big difference for different students. I’m excited to try some of these ideas in my classes.”
The training is being organised under the UNESCO project, “Addressing Students Learning Gaps to Ensure Quality Learning for All Children and Prevent Drop-Outs in Asia-Pacific (2024–2027),” supported by the Government of the Republic of Korea. The programme is scheduled to conclude on 7 February 2026, ahead of the Spring Semester commencement on 9 February 2026. This initiative reflects SCE’s ongoing focus on developing faculty capacity and promoting inclusive pedagogy.
