SCE Welcomes New B.Ed Students with a Three-Day Orientation
Samtse College of Education (SCE) welcomed a fresh cohort of 157 Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) students through a lively three-day orientation programme from 30th July 2025. This year’s intake includes 28 students in B.Ed IT, 35 in B.Ed English & Geography, 33 in English & History, 28 in Biology & Chemistry, and 33 in Physics & Mathematics.
Excitement filled the campus as many students, experiencing college life for the first time, were eager to begin their academic and personal growth as future educators while connecting with peers and mentors.
In his welcome address, the President of the college encouraged the students to embrace the Three Cs (Connect, Communicate, and Conduct) as guiding principles throughout their time at the College.
He encouraged students to connect meaningfully with peers, tutors, and the wider college community, noting that such relationships enrich learning and create a sense of belonging. On communication, he urged students to ask questions, express ideas, and engage in dialogue that deepens understanding and builds confidence. He also highlighted the importance of conduct, reminding students that discipline, respect, and integrity are essential qualities of a professional teacher.
“You have made the right choice by joining this noble profession,” the President said. “You bring with you energy, passion, and immense potential. We are excited to see how you will grow here and contribute to our learning community.”
The orientation programme commenced with the Dean of Student Affairs, who is also the coordinator of the programme, introducing key staff members involved in the orientation and outlining the three-day schedule. This was followed by the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages, who shared research opportunities and support services to help students hone their research skills. Programme-specific briefings then familiarised students with the College’s academic expectations and essential facilities, including the library and ICT labs. Additionally, sessions on transitioning to tertiary education and managing academic stress were conducted to support students’ smooth adjustment to college life.
Reflecting on her first few days at the College, Kinley Zangmo, a first-year B.Ed student, shared, “I was nervous at first, but the orientation helped me feel comfortable and welcomed. Meeting new friends and hearing from the President and other faculties inspired me. I already feel like I belong here.”
The orientation programme concluded on 1st August with campus tours and familiarisation of VLE features, ensuring the new students are well-prepared and inspired to begin their academic semester 2025.
