Dr. Rinchen Dorji Departs Samtse College of Education to Assume Role of Pro Vice-Chancellor at OVC, Royal University of Bhutan

In a move that signals a significant career progression and a noteworthy transition for the institution, Dr. Rinchen Dorji, the esteemed President of Samtse College of Education, departed the college to take up the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research at the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s tenure at Samtse College has been marked by notable academic advancements and a deep commitment to educational excellence, qualities that will now serve the broader university community.

Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s appointment as Pro Vice-Chancellor is a testament to his extensive experience, strategic vision, and dedication to the academic sector. During his time at Samtse College, he played a pivotal role in driving forward key initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of teacher education and fostering a culture of research and innovation. His leadership was characterized by a deep commitment to student welfare, faculty development, and community engagement, leaving a lasting impact on the college.

Reflecting on his departure, Dr. Rinchen Dorji expressed both gratitude and anticipation. “Serving as the President of Samtse College of Education has been a deeply fulfilling experience. I am honoured to have been part of such a vibrant academic community and to have contributed to its growth. As I step into the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor, I carry with me the lessons and insights gained here, which I hope to apply in serving the Royal University of Bhutan,” he stated.

The announcement of Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s departure has elicited a range of responses from faculty, staff, and students, who have expressed both their admiration for his work and their best wishes for his future endeavours. A senior faculty member Mr. Karma Gayphel remarked, “Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s visionary leadership has profoundly shaped the direction of Samtse College. His contributions have laid a strong foundation that will benefit the institution for years to come. While his departure is a great loss for us, we are confident that he will excel in his new role at RUB.”

Mr. Tashi highlighted Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s unique approach to leadership, noting, “His ability to combine academic rigour with a compassionate understanding of student needs has been truly inspiring. We will miss his presence on campus, but we are also excited to see the positive changes he will undoubtedly bring to the Royal University of Bhutan.”

Choki Gyeltshen, a second year BEd students have also voiced his appreciation expressing, “Dr. Rinchen Dorji was always approachable and genuinely cared about our academic and personal development. His leadership has made a significant difference in our education, and we are proud to see him take on a role that will impact even more students across Bhutan.”

Dr. Rinchen Dorji’s transition to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor marks the new beginning of an era for Samtse College of Education, opening up new opportunities for the institution to build on the strong foundation through collaboration.
