On March 15, 2022, Samtse College of Education hosted a half-day workshop on Competency Based Assessment. All faculty of the College members attended the workshop.

The workshop aimed to improve individual faculty’s knowledge and skills about Competency Based Assessment and its significance in the educational system. The workshop, led by Dr. Karma Utha and Buphen Gurung, provided a detailed overview of the concept of Competency Based Assessment. They also provided hands-on training on the implementation of this assessment method, demonstrating how to design competency-based assessments in various modules offered at the College.

The faculty members who attended the workshop expressed their appreciation to the College administration for organizing the event, and they all agreed that while they have been employing competency based questions in their respective modules, the workshop helped them gain a better understanding of the importance of Competency Based Assessment in the Bhutanese educational system.

The workshop is expected to have a positive impact on the learning and teaching practices at Samtse College of Education.
