The College Opens for Spring Semester 2022
With offering of butterlamps and prayers at the College Rigsum Goenpo hall on 14th Febrauary 2022, the College opened for the Spring semester.
After the prayer session and the offering of butterlamps, the President and faculty members offered Tashi Khadar to the two newly selected Deans of the College. Dr. Sonam Rinchen is now the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages and Mr. Ramesh Kumar Chhettri is the Dean of Student Affairs. The President welcomed both the new Deans and also expressed his appreciations to the former Deans.
After the simple Tashi Khadar ceremony of the Deans, the faculty members and administrative section heads sat for the Spring Semester planning meeting. In his opening remark, the President of the College said that teacher education has a crucial role to play as education reform takes place. When we fail as teacher educators, we fail in the system. The President also reminded the faculty members and section heads that the Bhutan Baccalaureate is going to have massive impact in the education reform currently happening. He further said, everyone has to embrace the Bhutan Baccalaurete and align the teacher education with it. And we have to take owenership. Failure is not our option and nor a choice. It is our sacred responsibility to fulfill His Majesty The King’s grand visions, the President added.
In the afternoon, faculty members discussed in detail the Bhutan Baccalaureate in the context of the College- plans and wayforward to embed BB in the teacher education and support the school system in the country.
The meeting ended with the President presenting his roadmap for the entire year and succinctly stating that the roadmap is a collective milestone of the College, not just his vision.
