From Classrooms to Creative Pitches: SCE Students Explore Entrepreneurship
The RUB Business Idea boot camp 2025 was held on April 12 at Samtse College of Education, bringing together 25 aspiring students from the college for a day of business idea pitching and innovation. The session focused on key business themes such as innovation, entrepreneurship, opportunity spotting, and business idea pitching, guiding students to shape business concepts aligned with national priorities.
The event was organized by the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship and Gedu College of Business Studies, with support from the Government of India to promote new business ideas. Among the participants were 25 PgDE students, including 15 specializing in Economics and 10 in Business and Entrepreneurship.
Dr. Kinley Seden, Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages, who also attended the event, remarked, “Such initiatives foster innovative thinking, nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among our students, and offer practical exposure to business planning and problem-solving. Furthermore, they align with Bhutan’s vision of promoting youth-led innovation, self-employment, and economic diversification.”
Students pitched a range of creative ideas, including a TikTok singing competition, gym facilities, a local salon, and an upskilling center. Reflecting on the experience, Manju Ghalley, a second-year Economics PgDE student, shared, “The Boot Camp was insightful and interactive. I learned how to identify problems, create solutions, and pitch business ideas. One of the activities involved a mock pitch where we were each given an adjective, verb, and noun to come up with a business idea. It helped us think on our feet, be innovative, and practice pitching in a fun way.”
The session concluded with final presentations of the pitched ideas, followed by a vote of thanks.
