Democracy in Action: Samtse College of Education Elects New PgDE Councilors
Coinciding with the 57th Foundation Day of Samtse College of Education, the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PgDE) Councilor Elections were successfully conducted on May 29, 2025. A total of 202 students participated in the voting process, demonstrating a strong voter turnout and enthusiasm for student leadership.
Eleven candidatesโsix male and five femaleโcontested for the councilor positions. Based on the highest number of votes, four male and four female candidates were elected to serve as PgDE Councilors for the Spring Semester of the 2026 academic year.
The election was organized by the Democracy Club and supervised by the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA), Student Services Officer (SSO), and the first-year postgraduate cohort. The use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) ensured a smooth, transparent, and fair election process, reinforcing the institutionโs commitment to democratic values.
The newly elected councilors will officially assume office in the Spring Semester of 2026 during a formal Tashi Khadar ceremony.
