Samtse College of Education Inaugurates the Newly Established ECCD Centre
Samtse College of Education has opened an Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Centre with an enrollment of 27 students ranging from 2 years and 8 months to 5 years. The inauguration of the Centre was presided over by Venerable Lam Neten of Samtse Rabdey.
Namgay Dema and Tenzin Dema, the facilitators deployed at the Centre through the support of the Dzongkhag Education Office and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) expressed their excitement and dedication to make a positive difference to the lives of the children at the Centre. Both of them bring years of experience of teaching as Non Formal Education (NFE) instructors. Tenzin shared that “The facilities available at the Centre are fascinating, and we look forward to providing quality developmental experiences to the children”.
Parents of the children enrolled at the Centre expressed happiness and delight with the opening of another such facility in the municipality saying it would not only help their children learn from a young age but also create more time for them to focus on other activities without having to look after their children day-in and day-out.
The College Management stated that the Centre was established with an aim to address the increasing need of such services in the community and also to make ECCD services more accessible to children and families. The College aspires and envisions to operate the Centre as a child-friendly and inclusive Centre with services designed to meet the developmental needs of diverse group of early childhood children.
The Centre was established by remodelling and renovating an old structure with the financial support and assistance of UNICEF Bhutan and the State Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL), Samtse.
