The finale of the inter-class Dzongkha debate competition was held at the college auditorium on the evening of 9th April 2021.

Two teams of five members each, debated on “ཤེས་རིག་གི་སྤུས་ཚད་ཡར་རྒྱས་གཏང་དགོ་པ་ཅིན་ སློབ་ཕྲུག་གཙོ་སྟོན་ནི་འདི་ཁག་ཆེ།”. Each team consisted of selected students from different courses and the team against the motion that argued teachers are responsible not students for enhancing the quality of Education won the debate.

The main aim for organizing this debate competition was to promote Dzongkha language and to provide opportunities to the students to become critical thinkers. Two rounds of qualifying debates were conducted in the earlier weeks to make the event competitive and to select two teams for the final. “The competition was indeed educative and provided ideas and knowledge on how to prioritize the important fields to improve the quality of education,” said Jamyang Dema, the literary club coordinator.

Mr. Kinley Tshering Dorji of 2nd year BASW shared, “I found this debate competition interesting and at the same time educative and meaningful too”.

After an hour long debate,  Mr. Pema Norbu of final year Science B was declared as the best debater.

“It was successful as well as enriching one. The participants did their best and the audience also showed their appreciation and interest in the program”, Jamyang Dema, the club coordinator concluded.

The literary club conducts various events such as declamation, impromptu speech, drama and English debates annually.

The program was conducted by the College Literary Club in collaboration with the Department of Language Education and was graced by the President, faculties and all the students.
