Beyond the Classroom: SCE Clubs Create Space for Skills, Creativity and Connection
Samtse, 12 August 2026 – For students at Samtse College of Education (SCE), learning does not end when the classroom door closes. From music and art to sports, technology, carpentry and astronomy, the College’s clubs offer students opportunities to discover interests, develop practical skills and build connections with their peers.
The Club Orientation held on 12 August 2026 marked the beginning of another semester of club activities at SCE. Organised by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, the orientation introduced students to the diverse range of clubs available on campus and encouraged them to take an active role in shaping their experiences beyond academic study.
The clubs reflect the varied interests of the College community. Students can explore creative pursuits through the Art Club, Music and Culture Club and Literary Society, develop practical skills through Carpentry, Electrical and Multimedia, or engage with science and technology through Astronomy and Mobile Legends (MLBB) Esports. For those interested in physical activity, a range of sporting clubs includes Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Aerobics, Taekwondo and Karate.
More than simply providing recreational opportunities, the clubs create spaces where students can learn by doing. A student interested in art may find a new form of expression; someone drawn to technology may develop practical digital skills; and participation in a sports team can nurture discipline, teamwork and a sense of belonging.
For future teachers, these experiences carry particular significance. The skills developed through collaboration, creativity, leadership and participation can complement academic learning and contribute to students’ broader personal and professional development.
The orientation also introduced students to the responsibilities that come with running clubs, including membership registration, planning, coordination, attendance and reporting. Registration is scheduled from 15 to 18 August, with clubs expected to plan activities with their members and submit their semester plans in the weeks that follow.
As the Autumn Semester unfolds, the clubs are set to become more than just spaces for leisure. They offer students a chance to try something new, develop an additional skill, meet people with shared interests and contribute to campus life.
At SCE, the message is simple: education happens in many spaces—and sometimes, the most memorable lessons happen beyond the classroom.
