College Hosts week-long Prayer Recitation in Prayer Hall
The college prayer coordinators organised a week-long recitation of prayers in the college prayer hall. The event, which coincided with the Bhutanese Dawa Dangpa, was held to pray for the well-being of both students and faculty throughout the academic year.
The prayer recitation began on March 23, aligning with the 24th day of Daw Dangpa in the Bhutanese calendar. Throughout the week-long event, dedicated student volunteers—comprising both boys and girls from various courses, including B.Ed and PgDE students—gathered each morning from 6:00 to 7:00 am and again in the evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Attendance at these reading sessions varied, with a maximum of 40 participants and a minimum of 25 volunteers at each session.
As part of community support for the prayer recitation, volunteers were provided with morning tea and evening juice and cake during each session. These refreshments were generously sponsored by various classes and a few individuals. On weekends, the volunteers participated in the recitation sessions from 7:00 to 8:00 am in the morning and from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the evening.
“The primary aim of this reading is to promote overall wellness and seek blessings for our beloved King. This annual event not only serves as a spiritual gathering but also aims to instill and reinforce the positive habits that are the hallmark of Samtse College. Through this tradition, students contribute to a culture of mindfulness and reflection, ensuring the college values are upheld through their commitment to prayer and community,” said Mr. Choki Gyeltshen, the prayer coordinator.
The prayer recitation concluded successfully with the completion of sixteen bum of prayer. This significant milestone was further marked by its alignment with the sacred Dangpa month in the Bhutanese calendar.
