Celebrating Years of Service and Dedication
On the morning of December 14, 2024, the College hosted its much-anticipated Dedicated Service Award ceremony at Rigpa Hall, where staff members gathered to honor their colleagues for years of devoted service. The event recognized those who had made significant contributions to the institution over the course of their careers.
The ceremony began at 9:00 AM, with the College community coming together to celebrate the achievements of the award recipients. The awards were presented to individuals who had reached milestones of ten, twenty, and thirty years of service, as well as the prestigious Lifetime Civil Service Award.
Tshering Dorji, a Lecturer, and Chundu Dorji, the Library Assistant, were recognized, each receiving the Dedicated Service Award for completing ten years of service to the College. The award for twenty years of dedication was presented to Sukman Rai, the College’s long-serving Cook, who has been an integral part of the institution’s daily operations.
The most distinguished group of awardees, those with thirty years of service, included Dr. Tashi Gyeltshen, Assistant Professor, Ms. Kezang Choden, Assistant Professor, Ms. Ugyen Pem, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Sabita Darjee, messenger. Their unwavering commitment and contributions over the decades were celebrated with heartfelt appreciation.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Civil Service Award to Dr. Sonam Daker, Assistant Professor. Having joined service in 1986 as a teacher, Dr. Daker has built a long and distinguished career, leaving an indelible mark on the College. Her remarkable dedication to education, along with her profound impact on both students and colleagues, made her a pillar of the institution. The Lifetime Civil Service Award recognized not only her exceptional career but also her enduring influence on the academic and cultural life of the College.
Reflecting on his thirty years of service, Dr. Tashi Gyeltshen shared his satisfaction: “I am proud to have served the nation for thirty years, with no regrets and no missteps along the way. It has been a fulfilling journey.”
The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the dedication, loyalty, and hard work of the award recipients. As tradition dictates, the College served Suja and Desi to all staff members, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that further enhanced the sense of unity and celebration.
This year’s awards ceremony not only recognized individual achievements but also strengthened the bonds within the College, as staff members reflected on the years of collective effort that continue to shape the institution’s success.
