The 45 day of De-suung skilling programme ends with a closing ceremony
The 45 day long ICT foundational course offered by ICT staff of Samtse College of Education ended with a closing ceremony, which was graced by the Dasho Dzongda of Samtse. A total of 27 De-suups started their ICT skilling course on 16th June which was themed In Pursuit of Excellence, ‘Building skill set and transforming mindset’. Dasho Dzongdha, as the Guest of Honour for the ceremony shared his delight towards the fulfillment by emphasizing on the need to be updated with ICT skills while serving the nation. He stated that having a qualification alone is not enough in 21st century but one must possess skills that enable full utilization of features of technology such as computers and smart phones.
He shared that Bhutanese are blessed under the extraordinary leadership of His Majesty the King who foresees any challenge and initiate solutions in advance. “De-suung being one of the visionary initiatives of His Majesty the King journeyed from a decade to such a glory that today, the service of De-suups are recognizable anywhere as a helping hand to nation building and national security”, said the Dasho Dzongdha. Dasho advised De-suung participants to continue exploring knowledge related to ICT and technology to become self sufficient in and to improve the efficiency of services.
The President of the host College in his address affirmed that initiation of such course is yet another memorable achievement where the first cohort of De-suups successfully completes the first ever skilling programme aimed towards four distinct attributes; Integrity, time management, attention to detail and commitment to lifelong learning amongst De-suups. De-suup trainees also performed few cultural dances. The event ended with awarding of certificates to the participants and a group photo session.
The De-suup skilling programme was also hosted by two other RUB Colleges- Sherubtse College and Gyelpoizhing College of Information Technology at the same time.
