The 2021 Autumn semester began today (26th July) with the lighting of butter lamps, reciting few obstacle aversion prayers and offering of immeasurable ‘Zhabten’ of His Majesty The King in the College prayer hall.

Following this programme, all faculty and section heads of the administration attended the general meeting in the Rigpa hall. As usual, it began with a short mindfulness session.

In the opening remark, President Dr. Rinchen Dorji firstly welcomed all the members from a short summer break and also highlighted and emphasized the key developments of the nation. He mentioned that pandemic has tested everyone’s patience, resilience and commitment to both personal and professional lives. And there is a need for us to be responsible enough in keeping the pandemic at bay.

One of the significant highlights for the attendees was the call for making a tangible contribution to the education reform and expressed his confidence of capability in members to make contributions to the education reform. President also pitched the idea of reflecting on personal and personal shortcomings and strategizing oneself to overcome those shortcomings to participate in the reform process.

On the personal teaching and learning area, President expressed, ‘quality of teacher education has a direct bearing on the quality of education in schools. We cannot recycle the old semester plans. Your semester plans have to reflect new skills, innovation, ideas and practices and inject your new ideas of teaching and learning.’

He concluded,  ‘as members of the college, we need to fuel the growth mindsets and must be able to predict the future. And one of the ways is through reading.’

For the next two days, the faculty members and different line managers will do individual, programme and department plannings which will be deliberated further in the meetings scheduled from 2-4th August 2021.
