The College Hosts the Desuung Skilling Programme

On 16th June 2021, Samtse College of Education hosts the Desuung Skilling Programme (DSP) coordinated by DSP Office, Thimphu.

Dasho Sonam Kinga, the Chairman of the DSP inaugurated the programme virtually from the seat of Cheotse Peonlop, Trongsa Dzong. In his opening statement, Dasho emphasized the importance of understanding the larger goals and aspirations of the nation, Dasho also reminded that Desuups have the shared responsibility in fulfilling the visions of His Majesty The King. One of which is to be a responsible Desuup in nation building. This ICT skilling programme is a stepping stone to the meeting of larger national goals and aspirations and skills have to be the 21st century Bhutanese identity, Dasho concluded.

The Officiating President of the College, Dr. Sonam Rinchen highlighted the importance of ICT as a fourth required knowledge in the 21st century besides the 20th century reading, writing and arithmetic knowledge.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Karma Gayphel shared that there is a very similar role between Desuups and teachers. Society expects teachers and Desuups to be well-mannered, well dressed and trustworthy. He further added, it is important to take self-care and be responsible. ‘If you all take selfcare and be responsible, there will not be problems in your hostel,’ he concluded.

The DSP is simulateaously conducted in the colleges of Royal University of Bhutan-  Samtse College of Education, Sherubtse College and Gyalpoizhing College of Information Technology.

The DSP inauguration ended with a group photo session and cutting of cake- The King’s Soelra.
