On the evening of 7th June, Samtse College of Education (SCE) hosted the much-anticipated Graduation Night for students of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PgDE) and the Postgraduate Diploma in Contemplative Counselling and Psychology (PgDCCP) at the college auditorium, Namgay Khangzang.

The celebration began with the arrival of graduates amidst a vibrant and festive atmosphere. A ceremonial Marchang offering, Tashi Gaypa, was performed, followed by the sacred Zhabten, symbolising blessings and aspirations for new beginnings. The event was graced by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan, whose presence added significance and pride to the occasion.

The programme featured an opening remark and address by the College President, who congratulated the graduates on their resilience and academic journey. He emphasised their vital role as torchbearers of change and service to the nation. The highlight of the evening was the inspirational address by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, who urged the graduates to serve in remote areas of the country, where their dedication is most needed. He reminded them, “Every individual is powerful; each one of you can make a significant difference.”

He further highlighted the pivotal role of educators, stating, “Take pride in your role, you are the bridge between students’ worlds and their opportunities for the future.”

To add colour and joy to the evening, cultural performances by PgDE graduates and second-year students captivated the audience. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to councillors, class representatives and club coordinators in recognition of their contributions. Druk House proudly claimed the title of Overall Sports Champion House. Meritorious recognition was given for Best Sportsman and Best Sportswoman.

A heartfelt valedictory speech was delivered by Lhakpa Dema from PgDE Second Year, who reflected on the cohort’s shared experiences and growth. She expressed deep gratitude, stating, “We are honoured to graduate from this prestigious college, and I must thank the Honourable Vice Chancellor for inspiring us to become future leaders.”

The celebration continued with the presentation of academic awards and recognitions for School Immersion and Teaching Practice. The event concluded with an energetic final dance by the PgDE boys, marking a joyous close to the Graduation Night. A vote of thanks was delivered by Tshering Lhaden from PgDCCP, who extended heartfelt appreciation to the faculty, guests, and peers for their unwavering guidance and support throughout the academic journey.

Graduation Night 2025 was more than a celebration, it was an evening of heartfelt gratitude, shared memories, and the promise of new beginnings.
