SCE family joins Samtse Dzongkhag to celebrate His Majesty’s 43rd Birth Anniversary
On the double auspicious occasion of the 43rd Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Losar, Samtse College of Education celebrated in grandeur with the dzongkhag administration and public joining various cultural events. The festivities began early in the morning with a special prayer ceremony in the College Prayer Hall. All MEd and PgDE students who had recently returned to the College after the winter break attended the ceremony.
Faculty, staffs and students then joined the Dzongkhag’s celebration in Samtse public ground. The event included song, dance and other performances commemorating the special occasion. Various folk songs and dances of Bhutan were performed along with traditional instrumental music. There was also a game show for the public to showcase their skills and win awards. Faculty and students of the college also put together a cultural show for the large gathering.
The event concluded with the offering of lunch from the dzongkhag administration to the staff, faculty, college staff, and general public. Tashi, Lecturer of SCE, said he feels proud to be part of the celebration and is in awe of His Majesty’s leadership in promoting education in the country. Overall, the event was a great success, and everyone who attended left feeling energized, inspired, and motivated. It was a great way to bring together the local community and the college in honour of His Majesty’s birthday.
