Hon’ble Opposition Leader (OL) of the National Assembly His Excellency Dorji Wangdi visited the College on 17 October 2022 as part of his tour to Samtse Dzongkhag.

In his talk to the staff and students, His Excellency shared the significance of Bhutanese democracy and the national priorities such as the nation’s security, sovereignty; economic prosperity; and unity, harmony and peace are upheld high as per the constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

The talk also covered the role of the opposition party in the parliament and the equal responsibility shouldered by the opposition. He further shared, the failure of the present government to implement some of its pledges and he candidly said, these pledges such as free wifi and allowance to mothers are not going to come as they have just one year to function as a government.

The OL also shared the plans of the government and transformation happening in Bhutan and the need to strive hard by all to fulfil the aspirations of His Majesty The King. ‘There are challenges such as red-tapism, government being both the regulator and implementor, ministries and agencies working in silos and financing gaps, etc,’ he said.

The OL concluded his talk reminding the 113 National Day Address by His Majesty The King.
