The College commemorates the 41st Birth Anniversary of His Majesty
Samtse College of Education joined the jubilant nation in celebrating His Majesty’s 41st Birth Anniversary.
Led by the President, all faculty, staff and students gathered in the Rigsum Goenpa hall for the celebration as early as 6.30 AM. The celebration began with lighting of butter lamps and offering an Soelkha to the pantheon of protecting deities of Bhutan and Buddhist practices for the protection of The Dharma King. The Rigsum Sum Goenpo hall reverberated with elaborate prayers or a series of Monlams conducted for the Happiness, Good Health and Long Life of The Compassionate King and the Royal Family members. It was followed by offering of the birthday cake and recitation of the Gyalpoi Zhabten.
The President of the College while thanking the gathering for their wholehearted support and cooperation in observing this special occasion shared that we do not need to wait for birth anniversaries to offer our wishes and prayers for His Majesty’ Long Life. He stated that such prayers and good wishes for our King should be unconditional and be part of our everyday lives. He highlighted how selfless His Majesty has been in his leadership and the sacrifices His Majesty makes on a daily basis for the country and wellbeing of people ever since His ascension to the Golden Throne has been beyond comprehension.
The programme ended with serving of the birthday cake and breakfast to all the staff and students in the College dining hall.
