Inter-Class Extempore Speech Held
On 9th October 2020, the grand finale of the Inter-class Extempore Speech Competition in Dzongkha language was conducted in the Namgyel Khangzang Hall of the College. A total of 15 finalists from different classes tried their best to win the competition.
Lopon Sonam Gyeltshen, the Coordinator of the programme shared that the main objectives were to promote Dzongkha language, enhance Dzongkha communication skills and to build the confidence of public speaking of students. Such literary activity is also expected to help sharpen the students’ level of intelligence and spontaneity in organising their thoughts and thus communicate effectively with clarity and coherence.
In an intellectually stimulating competition, Mr. Namgay Dorji, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education student was declared as the winner, followed by Mr. Kinley Penjor also a Postgraduate student and Mr. Pema Norbu a student of Bachelor of Education in Secondary Science. Mr. Namgay Dorji, the winner expressed his immense pleasure for winning and also shared his gratitude to the Department of Language Education for organising such a literary event in the College that provides opportunities for students to hone their language skills, thus making their learning in the College more holistic and wholesome.
President of the College attended the programme with few faculty members, who also spoke towards the end showing and modelling to the students the importance of participation in such events.
