Samtse College of Education Supports the Dzongkhag
The College as a member of the community, what better ways there can be than supporting the Dzongkhag in its effort to combat COVID-19. Following the directives of the Royal Government of Bhutan to make the lockdown more bearable, Samtse Dzongkhag is also putting in practice the issuance of movement cards to help people in buying essential commodities from designated shops in the town within their demarcated zones.
In light of this, Dasho Dzongrab of Samtse said, “Following the government order, Samtse Dzongkhag wanted to relax the lockdown. For this, the printing of movement cards to be distributed to the local community for their movement within their zones is essential”. Dasho also shared, “We are thankful to the College administration for helping the Dzongkhag in human resources and printing facilities within a short notice and this is an opportunity of collaboration between Dzongkhag and the College to fight against COVID-19”. Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, Dzongkhag COVID-19 Committee member who is tasked for zonation and printing cards shared, “In a lockdown situation, it is very difficult to get lamination paper including colour printing machine. And luckily, the Dzongkhag could avail these facilities from the College. This is a wonderful assistance”.
In redesigning and printing cards, the College Information Technology (IT) personnel supported the Dzongkhag. “This is a critical situation in the country and I came forward to help on behalf of the College to design, print and laminate cards”, shared Damche Dorji, IT Officer of the College. Mr. Narayan Rasaily, IT Associate of the College also stated that “This a small contribution to the country and I am genuinely happy to help in printing and laminating cards”. The College Administrative Officer who was entrusted to deliver essential commodities to the households in the College campus shared his experience, “Printing of cards is a good initiative from the Dzongkhag because this will help people to buy their groceries of choice. Otherwise, catering to every individual demands is difficult”. He also said that he is happy because the College could help the country at this difficult time.
Printing of cards was done in the College IT Office and all IT personnel were engaged. At the time of reporting this news, they were still printing. This effort was led by Dasho Dzongrab of Samtse Dzongkhag. Mr. Sonam Wanghuck concluded, “This is the timely support we got from the College and we are thankful to the family of Samtse College administration”.
