Diploma in Library and Information Management.
Professional Experience:
With 14 years of experience as a Library Assistant at Samtse College of Education, I have successfully managed library operations, including organizing, cataloging, and maintaining educational resources. I have provided exceptional support to students and faculty by assisting with resource access, conducting library orientation programs, and promoting information literacy. My role also involved implementing and maintaining digital library systems to enhance efficiency and accessibility. Committed to fostering a welcoming learning environment, I have consistently demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills to support teaching, learning and research.
Current responsibilities:
- Operating the circulation desk, providing assistance with borrowing, returns, and other related queries.
- Verifying user eligibility and maintaining accurate transaction records.
- Generating overdue notices and following up with users to return items promptly.
- Registering new library users, maintaining user records, and updating information.
- Tracking high-demand materials, managing waitlists, and notifying users when items are available.
- Organizing and cataloging library resources, including books,textbooks and journals.
- Identifying and acquiring new resources based on user needs and curriculum requirements.
- Evaluating and weeding outdated or damaged materials.
- Collaborating with faculty to curate specialized collections.
- Ensuring the proper maintenance, shelving, and preservation of materials.
- Assisting students, faculty,and staff in locating and accessing resources.
- Providing guidance on the use of library systems, databases, and digital tools.
- Conducting library orientation sessions and training users on library policies.
- Collaborating with faculty to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
- Maintaining records on library usage, circulation, and inventory.
- Ensuring the library is clean, organized, and welcoming by overseeing the arrangement of books, furniture, and equipment.
