Philosophy of teaching and learning:

As an educator, I believe that in order to foster learning in the best way possible, I must build good relationships with my students based on mutual respect and trust, and celebrate their diversity. I also firmly believe that teaching is a learning experience. Moments of self-reflection have motivated continuous growth and have kept my teaching relevant to the needs of my students. It is worth teaching well because it becomes a habit of mind, a practice of life.

Academic/Educational Qualification: 

  • Masters in Education, majoring Early Childhood Studies – Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia, 2007 – 2008)
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary) National Institute of Education, Samtse, Bhutan 1998 – 2001.

Professional experience: 

  • Certificate course in Social Work conducted by Samtse College of Education in collaboration with UNICEF at Samtse College of Education and Royal University of Bhutan, Thimphu from January to July, 2018.
  • Certificate course in Social Policy organized by Sherubtse College, iGNHaS, Royal University of Bhutan, and UNICEF Bhutan at Samtse college of Education from December 19th to 29th, 2017
  • Training cum Workshop for the Development of Books for Young Children organized by Save the Children at Chuniding Resort, Thimphu, Bhutan from 7th – 12th November 2012
  • Comprehensive Sexuality Education organized by Paro College of Education in collaboration with UNFPA in Thailand from 18th November – 23rd November 2012
  • Certificate Course on Play Development and Creativity and School Readiness at BRAC University in Bangladesh, from 25th January – 25th February 2011

I am interested to carry out research on issues related to families and children: developing a scope and sequence of parent involvement in the children’s learning and development, and investigations of the role of play in children’s learning and development.
