Samtse College of Education, under the Royal University of Bhutan, marked a significant milestone with the M.Ed Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2024 on November 29. The event, imbued with grandeur and cultural richness, celebrated the academic achievements of the graduates while highlighting the college’s commitment to excellence and tradition.

The ceremony commenced in the early evening, as students, staff, and invited guests gathered alongside the Chief Guest. Between 5:15 PM and 5:40 PM, attendees arrived, setting the stage for a memorable event. The formal proceedings began with the ceremonial lighting of the butter lamp and the recitation of Tashi Tsepka, followed by the national anthem and His Majesty’s Zhabten at 5:50 PM, instilling a sense of reverence and unity.

An engaging welcome address opened the event, paving the way for an inspiring speech from the Chief Guest, who commended the graduates for their dedication and hard work. The evening unfolded with vibrant cultural performances, showcasing Bhutan’s rich heritage and adding a celebratory tone to the occasion.

Recognitions of academic excellence were a key highlight, with awards presented to outstanding graduates in the M.Ed Mathematics and B.A. in Social Work programs. These accolades underscored the institution’s emphasis on nurturing talent and fostering academic distinction. Adding a personal and reflective touch to the ceremony, Sonam Wangchuk, an M.Ed Biology graduate, delivered a heartfelt valedictory speech. His words encapsulated the collective journey of the graduating class, their challenges, and their aspirations for the future.

The event also acknowledged contributions beyond academics. Exemplary class coordinators and the counselor were honored for their leadership and commitment. Literary achievements under The Literary Landscape program and recognition of the Champion House for Autumn 2024 highlighted the diverse accomplishments of the students.

As the ceremony drew to a close, Counselor Tandin delivered a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. The evening culminated in a formal Graduation Dinner at 7:30 PM, where faculty, graduates, and guests came together to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2024 in a spirit of camaraderie and joy.

The M.Ed Graduation Ceremony of 2024 was a testament to Samtse College of Education’s dedication to academic excellence and cultural heritage. It was a night to remember for graduates as they stepped into the next chapter of their lives, carrying forward the values instilled by the institution.
