Historic Consecration Marks a Milestone for Samtse College of Education

The highly anticipated consecration ceremony of the postgraduate block and staff residential quarters at Samtse College of Education was a joyous occasion, brimming with diverse cultural programs. Generously funded by the government of India, this historic event held special significance for the academic fraternity and the college community at large, as it symbolized a remarkable milestone in promoting academic excellence and enhancing the living standards of the esteemed staff members.

The atmosphere was electric as dignitaries from various sectors, along with faculty, and special guests, gathered to witness this auspicious occasion. The Guest of Honour, Consul General Shree Prashant Kumar Das, and the revered Lam Neten of Samtse Rabdey graced the event, adding a touch of prestige to the ceremony.

The consecration proceedings commenced with a traditional prayer ceremony, presided over by the Lam Neten of Samtse Rabdey, invoking divine blessings for the successful and harmonious use of the newly constructed facilities. This sacred ritual set a positive and invigorating tone for the day’s celebrations. Dr. Rinchen Dorji, the college President, warmly welcomed everyone and expressed profound gratitude to the Indian government for its invaluable support. He highlighted that having Shree Prashant Kumar Das, Consul General as a guest of honour itself is a testament of strong bond between Government of India and Royal Government of Bhutan, which has developed since the time immemorial. He further stressed that these facilities will serve greatly in achieving academic excellence and enhancing the living standard of the esteemed staff members of the college.

Shree Prashant Kumar Das, the Guest of Honour, lauded the college’s dedication to providing top-notch education to its students and creating a conducive environment for its faculty. He emphasized the strong bond between India and Bhutan, highlighting the consecration project as a testament to their enduring friendship.

Mr. Ugyen Dorji, lecturer of Samtse College of Education expressed his immense gratitude to the Government of India and Royal Government of Bhutan for rendering such facilities to the college and he expressed that this will not only create a conducive condition for the faculty members but also will help in achieving academic excellence. This will be the home for the people who are away from home.

Subsequently, the venue came alive with an array of captivating cultural programs that showcased the rich heritage and talents of the community. The dancers presented vibrant performances, soul-stirring and musical renditions. The cultural extravaganza not only celebrated the diversity of the institution but also fostered a sense of unity and pride among the attendees.

As the ceremonies concluded, the highlight of the day awaited – a delectable feast that left everyone delighted and satiated. The college authorities arranged a sumptuous lunch featuring a delectable assortment of traditional Bhutanese dishes and Indian delicacies, reflecting the profound bond between the two nations. The joyous camaraderie and lively conversations during the meal further strengthened the sense of community and camaraderie among the guests.

The consecration ceremony, with its blend of cultural vibrancy and culinary delight, served as a moment of reflection on the incredible journey that led to the completion of the postgraduate block and staff residential quarters. It reaffirmed the commitment of the college to provide the finest education and working environment for its faculty, students, and staff members.
