Samtse College of Education Commemorates 55th College Foundation Day with Dignitaries and Cultural Celebrations

Samtse College of Education celebrated its 55th College Foundation Day on May 29, 2023, with a grand event that showcased the institution’s rich history and contributions to the field of education in Bhutan. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including the Guest of Honour, Lam Neten, who emphasized the visionary nature of the college’s establishment by the late King Third Druk Gyalpo.

The event commenced with an offering of butter lamp at heritage center resounding the ceaseless tribute to Third Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The inaugural ceremony held in the college auditorium, not only brought faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and special guests together but given the moment to reckon the contributions made by Third Druk Gyalpo and the monarchs. Lam Neten, in his address, lauded the college as a product of the late King’s vision and expressed his admiration for the dedication and love with which the institution serves the nation. His presence added significance to the celebration and highlighted the importance of teacher education in Bhutan.

The President of Samtse College of Education delivered a speech highlighting the college’s notable contributions to the development of education in Bhutan. He commended the faculty and staff for their unwavering commitment to nurturing competent and compassionate teachers who play a vital role in shaping the country’s future. The President urged all teachers to remain vigilant and actively participate in making the education system more vibrant and responsive to the needs of students.

The commemoration event also saw the presence of other dignitaries, including local community leaders and education officials. Their participation underscored the strong ties between the college and its stakeholders, further strengthening community relations and fostering collaborations.

The cultural segment of the event showcased the diverse talents of Samtse College of Education’s students. The stage came alive with mesmerizing dance performances, melodious music, engaging and captivating events. Notably, the Alumni Group from Samtse Higher Secondary School presented a mesmerizing performance, reconnecting the college with its proud graduates. The cultural programs not only entertained the attendees but also provided a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan.

The event also included moments of recognition and appreciation. Former staff members were felicitated at acknowledging their dedication and valuable contributions to the growth of the institution. Their presence added a sense of nostalgia and gratitude to the occasion. The release of the EIP marked a significant contribution towards advancing educational practices. Additionally, the launching of the Alumni webpage to strengthen the ties between the institution and its esteemed graduates. Furthermore, the release of Sherig-Pages highlighted the commitment of college to promoting quality education.

The College Rimdro took place on the very day, during which Mr. Sangay Tshering remarked that it was the perfect occasion to reaffirm the Great Third’s ideals. This is also a moment; we not only recognize his contributions to the nation but also renew our commitment to fulfilling his aspirations. Lopen Sonam Gyeltshen stated that this act will also serve as protection against unseen malevolent forces, reinforcing our dedication to serving Tsa-wa-sum.

To further enhance the celebratory atmosphere, a sumptuous lunch was served, offering an opportunity for everyone to come together and enjoy a delightful feast while fostering camaraderie and camaraderie.

The 55th College Foundation Day celebration served as a reminder of the college’s legacy and its commitment to providing quality teacher education. It instilled a sense of pride among the college community, inspiring them to continue striving for excellence in the field of education.

The success of the event was attributed to the meticulous planning and coordination by the organizing committee, as well as the active participation and support of the faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

The commemoration of Samtse College of Education’s 55th College Foundation Day was a resounding success, honoring the institution’s remarkable journey and its vital role in shaping the education landscape in Bhutan. The event not only celebrated the past achievements but also reinforced the commitment to a brighter future in education.
