Announcement for Admission into the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education at Samtse College of Education

Samtse College of Education is pleased to inform the constituent colleges of RUB and private colleges that the admission for the intake of candidates for the PgCert in Higher Education for 2022 Autumn Semester is now open. The course will be offered full time on the campus for a duration of a semester.  There are a total of 20 seats available for candidates from the colleges within Bhutan and 5 seats for international applicants. If there are no applicants from outside Bhutan, the intake number from within Bhutan will be increased to 25.

Applicants from RUB and Private Colleges

To be eligible for enrolment into the programme, the applicants should:

1. hold a minimum of bachelor’s degree;
2. teach in the RUB/private colleges in Bhutan at the time of application; and
3. provide a letter of nomination from the respective college.

Each college can nominate a maximum of four eligible candidates and if the total nominees meet the required number, all the candidates will be selected for the programme. However, in case, the nominated number exceeds the required number then SCE will select the top 20 or 25 students based on the marks scored in the first degree and the marks obtained in English language proficiency test. The weighting for different components of test is indicated below:

1. Degree marks:        40%
2. Written test:           60%

International applicants

The College will shortlist international applicants based on the first degree and relevant field. The shortlisted candidates will sit for an online written test and viva-voce.

The final selection will be based on merit ranking. Merit ranking will be determined by the marks scored in the first degree and the marks obtained in English language proficiency test and online viva-voce. The weighting for different components is indicated below:

1. Degree marks:           30%
2. Viva-Voce:                  30%
3. Written test:              40%

The last date for receiving the nominations or the applications is 30^th June 2022.
