Samtse College of Education (SCE) warmly welcomed a delegation from Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) for an exposure tour, held from 23\u201325 August 2025, focused on fostering leadership exchange, collaboration, and community engagement. The visiting team comprised 19 student leaders and two Student Services Officers (SSOs) and was received by faculty, staff, and student representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme began with an interactive leadership session alongside SCE\u2019s student leaders, creating a platform for dialogue and mutual learning. During the session, JNEC students shared about their leadership structure, where Chief Councillors play a central role, unlike SCE\u2019s system of rotating Coordinating Councillors each month. They also described their practice of conducting unannounced late-night hostel and campus checks, which SCE leaders found to be an effective idea worth exploring. In return, SCE student leaders highlighted their wide range of literary, cultural, and co-curricular events, sparking a lively exchange of ideas on leadership and student engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Later, the excitement shifted to the football ground, where student teams from SCE and JNEC faced off in a spirited friendly match. The game ended with SCE winning 3\u20131, while the JNEC players impressed the crowd with their strong teamwork and determination, making the match a highlight of the tour.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation also joined SCE\u2019s morning assembly and embarked on a campus tour to explore academic and student facilities. In addition, they visited Samtse Dratshang to offer prayers and gain exposure to Bhutan\u2019s traditional monuments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The three-day programme concluded with both colleges expressing commitment to continued cooperation. Speaking about the visit, the Dean of Student Affairs at SCE shared, \u201cSuch programs provide an opportunity to build friendships, share experiences, and strengthen ties between our colleges.\u201d Reflecting on the experience, Tshering Lhamo, Assistant Student Services Officer at JNEC, noted, \u201cThe exposure tour gave students invaluable insights into best practices and leadership initiatives that will help them grow as effective future leaders.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The exposure tour truly highlighted the importance of inter-college exchanges in promoting leadership development, cultural understanding, and community spirit among Bhutanese youth.<\/span><\/p>\n
