Vacancy announcement for self-financed students in the MEd programmes – 2021 intake

The Samtse College of Education is pleased to announce the following vacancy for Spring Semester 2021 intake:
1). MEd in Chemistry:            2 slots

2). MEd in Physics:                 2 slots

3). MEd in Biology:                2 slots

4). MEd in Maths:                   2 slots

5). MEd in English:                 5 slots

6). MEd in Geography:           5 slots

 Entry Requirements

To be eligible for enrolment in the MEd programme, the candidate should:

  • hold a bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed) with Chemistry/Physics/Biology/Maths/Geography/English as subject of specialisation OR Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PgDE)/ Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PgCE) in Chemistry/Physics/Biology/Maths/Geography/English from a University or Institute recognised by Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC);

 

  • have scored a minimum of 50% in English Language Proficiency Test comprising of a written test and viva voce administered by Samtse College of Education.

 

The final selection will be based on merit ranking. Merit ranking will be determined by the degree marks and the marks obtained in English language proficiency test and viva voce administered by the college. The weighting for different components is indicated below:

  1. Degree marks: 30%
  2. Viva Voce:         30%
  3. Written test:     40%

 

The 30% degree marks will be derived from the overall performance at the bachelor’s level for candidates with a Bachelor in Education (BEd) qualification, while for candidates with a PgDE/ PgCE qualification, 30% will be computed by taking 50% from the overall performance at the bachelor’s level and 50% from the overall performance at the PgDE/PgCE level.
