May 1st – 3rd, 2019.

Samtse College of Education in partnership with UNICEF Bhutan is running an International Conference on “Emerging Social Work Practices and Education” coinciding with the birth anniversary of our beloved Late His Majesty Druk Gyalpo Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Through this conference, Samtse College of Education aspires to connect with the social work academia, practitioners and researchers from Bhutan and outside and engage in generative dialogues to reflect on how Bhutan can bring synergy between modern social work education and Bhutanese cultural values. Further, the proceedings and deliberations of the conference will also provide a road map to Samtse College of Education and the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) to contextualize its social work curriculum by integrating Bhutanese cultural values and contexts with global social work contemporary knowledge, skills and professional ethics and values. Among others, the special highlights of the conference is the Keynote Address by globally renowned social work academic and practitioners. On 1st May, 2019 the eve of the conference Dr. Lotay Tshering , Honourable Prime Minister of Bhutan graced the occasion as Guest of Honor. Vice Chancellor, Heads of government and non-government office from Thimphu and Samtse, Deputy Representative and officials of UNICEF office in Bhutan, Officials from UNICEF regional offices, Keynote Speakers, international and national conference participants, Staff and Students of SCE attended the Opening Ceremony of the conference
