General
objective of the module:
The aims of this module are to help the trainee teachers to develop
an understanding of the role and contribution of Geography in
education, its aims and objectives. The main goal is that the
trainee teacher should develop good practice founded on sound
theoretical basis- that they should become teachers who can think
for themselves.
Specific
objectives or learning outcomes:
On completion of this module, the trainee teacher will be able
to:

Draw on the historical perspectives of Geography to expound the philosophy
and principles of subject
2. Analyze the Nature of Modern Geography in order to understand the subject
in a more sensitive way
3. Exhibit competence in teaching and related classroom activity by using
different approaches to teaching Geography with special reference to the
Bhutanese context
4. Gain subject knowledge and understanding in secondary level Geography
5. Evaluate the role and contribution of Geography in the Bhutanese school
curriculum and the wider context.
6. Examine the use of resources for learning activities in geography like
maps, textbooks ands instructional aids
7. Learn how to teach map reading and interpretation skills for contour
and topographical maps.

General
objective of the module:
This History Education module in general aims to train the trainee teachers
to teach history effectively in the middle and higher secondary school
level. It is designed to provide a range of professional education and
training through practical experiences and theoretical perspectives. This
course will also develop a critical understanding of the literatures on
the development of history as a classroom subject since 5th century till
19th century A.D.
Specific
objectives or learning outcomes :
On completion of this module, the trainee teacher will be able to:
1.
Critical understanding of the literatures on the development of history
as a classroom subject since 5th century B.C. till 19th century A.D.
2. An ability to explore and deal critically with historical perspectives
in the teaching of history with special reference to Bhutan.
3. Critical understanding to examine the objectives, listed in the history
curriculum, of teaching history and Civics in class IX and X.
4. Ability to plan some innovative learning activities suitable to class
IX and X level.
5. Prepare an excellent lesson plan based on concept, skills and values
of teaching history and Civics for classes IX and X level.
6. Ability to develop innovative ways of teaching history besides classroom
teachings.

objective of the module:
The chief aim of this module is to enable the trainee teachers gain confidence
and skills required to teach Economics at class IX and X level. To fulfill
this, the module looks into certain critical areas in instructional methodology
and also attempts to offer insightful glimpses into the syllabus of Economics
at class IX and X level. Another important aim of this module is to acquaint
the trainee teachers with the historical development of Economic Thought
and major contributions of distinguished economists, as this will help
them provide valuable additional inputs while teaching the contents.
