M. Ed FULL-TIME PROGRAMME FOR SELF-FINANCED CANDIDATES



Samtse College of Education is pleased to announce the intake of the first cohort of self-financed candidates for admission into the Master of Education in Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics programme for the year 2017. A total of 12 candidates (3 in each discipline) will be selected for the programme in the last week of May 2017 and the outcome will be conveyed to the individual candidates within the same month.

Entrance Requirements
For entry into the programme, a candidate must fulfill the following academic criteria:
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in secondary education or a bachelor’s degree in primary education with Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Mathematics as a subject of specialization or PgDE/PGCE from a university or institute recognized by RCSC

Candidates who fulfill the above criteria must submit a copy of the following Academic Transcripts:
  • 1. Bachelor’s degrees in secondary education/ Bachelor’s degrees in primary education,

OR

  • 2. Postgraduate Certificate in Education/ Postgraduate Diploma in Education along with Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject discipline.

Along with the academic transcripts, the candidates must submit their contact number and choice of subject to the Programme Leader by email with a copy to the Dean of Academic Affairs, SCE, on or before 12 May 2017:

The short listed candidates will have to sit for an English Language Proficiency Test comprising of a written test and viva voce which will be held on 22 May 2017. The venue for the same will be communicated to the candidates. The focus of the test will be on analytical reasoning and language proficiency. A minimum of 50% in English Language Proficiency Test must be scored to be eligible for the programme.
Candidates will then be merit ranked and selected by the College Admission Committee based on the following criteria:

Degree marks : 30%
Viva Voce : 30%
Written test : 40%

The 30% degree marks will be derived from the overall performance at the bachelor’s level for candidates with a B. Ed qualification, while for candidates with a PgDE/PGCE qualification, 30% will be computed by taking 50% from the overall performance at the bachelor’s level and 50% from the overall performance at the PgDE/PGCE level.
The list of selected candidates will be published on the College’s website (www.sce.edu.bt) and communicated to the respective individuals.

Programme commencement

The programme will commence in July 2017 and the exact date will be announced on the College website.

A total of 30 candidates will be selected for the programme in the second week of November 2017 and the outcome will be conveyed to the individual candidates in the last week of the same month. M.Ed Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics Seminar I (7th & 8th September 2017)
As per the requirement of the module on "Advanced studies" the M. Ed program committee is organizing the first seminar ( see the details here). Students and staffs are invited to attend the seminar based on your subject/topic relevance and interest. The program committee and the college would also like to extend invitation to teachers and students from near by schools.
