Teaching Practice Committee

Roles and Responsibilities
While the TP Committee is entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring and supporting professional growth of the student trainees in general, it is mandated to fulfill the following specific functions:
1. Coordinate with the DSE and identify partnership schools for field teaching practice
2. Identify and set roles and responsibilities for the partnership school faculty (principals, school TP coordinators and mentors) towards teaching practice.
3. Make visits to practising schools from time to time to establish better understanding with regard to the guidance and support required to be provided to
practicing teachers 4.Identify and appoint the focal persons and mentors for the student teachers for the entire teaching practice period.
5. Provide trainings / orientations to focal persons and mentors for effective mentoring, professional support and evaluation of field teaching practice
6. Arrange placement of students in various school clusters for field teaching practice in consultation with the partnership schools
7. Arrange regular students supervision and evaluation of field teaching practice by the college faculty
8.Visit schools periodically to monitor and supervise mentoring of students by the school mentors
9. Set guidelines and requirements for teaching practice for both students and supervisors, viz. supervising lecturers (SL), principals, focal persons and mentors.
10. Identify and nominate/detail supervising lecturers for supervision and evaluation of teaching practice strictly in accordance with the guidelines endorsed by the 34th ACM (Annexure A)
11. Maintain records of student progress from the information received from the supervising lecturers and mentors
12. Ensure prompt submission of student evaluation marks by the supervising lecturers immediately on their return from TP supervision
13. Coordinate evaluation of TP journals and reflection papers by the supervising lecturers concerned
14. Prepare and declare teaching practice results and submit the final marks to College examination board
15. Conduct staff development programs for the college faculty to orient them on the modality of teaching practice and to update their knowledge and skills on the use of evaluation and observation forms
16. Also develop professional development packages and send to cooperating schools from time to time
