This module is designed to

1. Give the trainee teachers the opportunity to develop full understanding of the subject mechanics
2. Help trainee teachers to teach mechanics effectively in schools in Bhutan.
3. Handle the laboratory instruments and equipment in the schools
4. Carry out some basic repair and maintenance of instruments and equipment in the schools.

Title of the module: Properties of matter and energy

This module is designed to

1. Familiarize trainee teachers with the properties of matter and energy in detail.
2. Understand the various energy resources, its conversion, how to obtain and also how to save energy in context to Bhutan.
3. Familiarize with the pattern of energy consumption in the World.
4. Give the trainee teachers the opportunity to develop full understanding of the subject
5. Help trainee teachers to teach the related subject matter effectively in schools in Bhutan.

Title of the module: Atomic Structure and Water

Code: CHE 1301

By the end of the semester the student teachers will:
i. have a clear picture of structure of atom,
ii. be able to use the periodic classification of elements,
iii. be able to understand the properties of universal solvent.

Title of the module: The Extraction and the Purification of some common
chemicals.

Code: CHE 1302

This module would help the trainees to:
i. Develop a deeper understanding about the extraction and purification of some common metals.
ii. Know the properties of carbon, nitrogen and its compounds.
iii. Understand the characteristics of ammonium compounds and oxides of nitrogen.

Title of the module: Human Anatomy and Physiology

Code: BIO 1301

This module is chiefly aimed at providing the student teachers with in depth knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of:
muscular-skeletal system
digestive system
transport system (blood and lymph)
respiratory system

Title of the module: Biology Education

Code: BIO 1302

The module is aimed at equipping the biology student teacher with the knowledge:
i. of national policy of science education,
ii. of aims and objectives of teaching biology in Bhutan,
iii. of applications of biology approaches in biology,
iv. teaching approaches,
v. and skills of biology laboratory management.
